A night sky to listen in

A still from Sophie Kazandjian's night-sky music visualiser: the aurora over snowy Cairngorm peaks, a rising moon and a lit cottage window in Royal Deeside.
A still from the visualiser: a Deeside night sky that moves with the music.

I made a thing for fun. It lives on this site under Visualiser: a full-screen night sky over the hills I grew up in, with the records playing underneath.

I wanted somewhere to put the music that felt like home. The colours are sampled from my own photographs, so if you have stood on Geallaig Hill at dusk you will know them.

The northern lights are the part I am fondest of. We get them at home on a good clear night, although they are a lot more common now across the world with the increase in solar storms. Here the aurora and the small drifting lights move with whatever is playing, brighter through the louder passages and sparse when it goes quiet. If you find the little lights near the trees, click one and it will lift off into the sky.

It is under Visualiser in the menu. Best on a big screen.
